Geography, with honest limits

The current Mauritius edition uses six water layers and one land layer. Offshore contours follow retained ETOPO1 data and are smoothed; reef depths are modeled from habitat classes. Île aux Cerfs is simplified and moved slightly east for visual separation.

Retained demonstration maps use Mapzen composite terrain (SRTM/GMTED land and NOAA ETOPO1 ocean). Ocean data is roughly 1.85 km in spacing; interpolating it does not measure lagoon depths, reefs or individual coral formations. Artistic ocean contours use decorative coastal bands, or the Atlas reef option for Mauritius and Le Morne. Neither represents measured bathymetry.

Mauritius and Le Morne reef forms: Allen Coral Atlas, geomorphic habitat v2.0, CC BY 4.0. Native 5 m categorical mapping is sampled on the retained terrain grid and generalized for fabrication. Classes describe lagoons, reef flats, crests and slopes, not depths. The current Mauritius edition keeps source ocean data outside mapped reefs; older artistic studies may use decorative bands. No Planet imagery is included.

GEBCO's 15 arc-second global grid is a potential additional source, not the provider currently loaded. No claim of GEBCO accuracy or endorsement is made.

Frame badge

The frame badge uses the original supplied Kronomia A7 artwork and badge kit v1.0.0. Its personal lettering uses bundled PT Serif outlines under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. Badge previews are digital illustrations; frame fit and physical finishes remain to be qualified.

Prototype map outlines

Blurred Soon cards use geographically registered land outlines from geoBoundaries, projected north up and east right without rotation. Mauritius-region and Rodrigues outlines: OpenStreetMap / Wambachers via geoBoundaries, represented year 2017, under ODbL 1.0. Réunion: Sentinel-2 10 m land cover, 2021, processed by IMB via geoBoundaries, CC BY 4.0. Cropping and simplification are for editorial prototypes; decorative ocean bands are not measured depths, and these are not offered candidates.

Retained photograph credits

The destination photographs from an earlier collection presentation are retained with their source credits; they are no longer used in the collection cards. The archived WebP conversions may retain responsive framing metadata. Their source colours and compositions have not been retouched. Adapted photographs remain under their respective licenses.

Software

Svelte/SvelteKit, Three.js, MapLibre, d3-contour, Clipper, polygon-clipping and the retained TopoStack packages make the studio possible. Full applicable license texts are included in third-party licenses.
